Madhuri Dixit : The biggest story of 2007

>> Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Move over Rani, Ash, Preity, Priyanka, the real queen bee of Bollywood is back and is beckoning all her fans with open arms. Literally. From atop the biggest billboards, the widest bus backs, and busiest bus stops, from street kiosks and on the small and big screen, Madhuri Dixit is inviting you to her dance fest Aaja Nachle, her arms open wide, that dazzling smile right in place. In an industry that's driven by the male ego, dominated by actors in their 40s, Madhuri is the sole actress, standing tall. And all by herself.

Aaja Nachle, produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by ace cinematographer Anil Mehta (who's earlier works include Lagaan, KANK, Veer Zara among others), is being sold solely on Madhuri's star power. And the biggest testimony of this is her larger-than-life solo hoardings standing proud in the clutter of the Bachchans, Khans and Kapoors across the country.

Madhuri was last seen as Chadramukhi in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas after which she went into a self imposed sabbatical. During that time Rani Mukerji and Pretiy Zinta dominated the scene along with Ash, Kareena and Priyanka to a certain extent. But even now it's hard to imagine any of these ladies driving a project purely on the basis of their star power. Case in point is the recently released Laaga Chunari Mein Daag which was touted as Rani's big moment of glory, but failed to generate any buzz among her fans.

"Comeback! What comeback are we talking about?" asks Jackie Shroff who had quite a popular pairing with Madhuri once upon a time. He says emphatically, "She had never left the industry in the first place and continues to look as fresh as her Ram Lakhan days."

What's the industry buzz about Aaja Nachle? Trade expert Komal Nahta agrees that the Madhuri factor is the film's biggest strength. "The masses are still crazy to see her which is why there is some optimism about the film. Yet a clearer picture will emerge only when the advance booking opens". Nahta points out that while Madhuri is Aaja Nachle's trump card, having an equally strong hero would have helped the film (a la Aamir Khan in Kajol's comeback Fanaa). Irrespective of the box-office fate of Madhuri's film, it goes without saying that Aaja Nachle will be keenly watched. Even if it is by critics who would be only too keen to write her off.

On the positive side, Nahta however feels that Aaja Nahcle is a heroine-oriented subject tailor-made for Madhuri. This leaves little scope for any of the other actors, which is why no top hero would have even touched the film. Jackie argues that actors of every generation would still be keen on working with her. In fact if given an opportunity Jackie himself doesn't mind sharing screen space with her again.

Madhuri has always been a fantastic dancer, and so when choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant was given a chance to work on the project, 'it was like a dream come true'. While her contract with the production house forbids her from commenting on her dance sequences in the film, Merchant says 'she is a diva in every sense of theword' "Aaja Nachle is a choreographers film from the word go and Madhuri fits the bill completely," she enthuses.

In the '90s Indra Kumar made a trilogy of superhits with Madhuri - Dil, Beta and Raja. Incidentally she won the best actress award for all three. Since then both have moved on, but Kumar maintains that there is no 'Madhuri Part 2' in the industry. "All this hype for Aaja Nachle is because Bollywood is still waiting for a worthy replacement". Kumar and Subhash Ghai are among the few Madhuri loyalists who claim to be looking for scripts to suite her stature.

It would perhaps be apt to sum this up with an anecdote from the Yash Raj studios. During the shoot of Aaja Nachle, Madhuri opted for a night schedule, so that she could spend time with her kids in the mornings. But there came a time when she had to shoot during the day. Yash Chopra got a custom-made play pen erected within the studio for her kids, while his wife Pam, went out shopping for toys and games for the two boys. It is not very often that production houses take such special care of an actress. Not unless you are a Madhuri Dixit, you know.

How will Madhuri fare ?

>> Monday, October 29, 2007

With her graceful moves and her new toned, slim look, the dhak-dhak girl is all set to sizzle on the screen. And if Madhuri Dixit Nene does, her success will be an exception, rather than the rule.

For, marriage makes things difficult even for divas in the film industry. Stars like Karisma Kapur, Raveena Tandon and Sonali Bendre almost disappeared after marriage. Kajol too couldn’t do much at the box office initially, until Fanaa happened.

With Madhuri’s Aaja Nachle and Aishwarya Bachchan’s Jodhaa Akbar slated for release, everyone is waiting to see whether they will be capable of the same magic as when they were single. “I’ll definitely see Madhuri’s film.

She’s looking ravishing and is a great actress,” says actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy. She believes the break has been good for Madhuri and she’s re-emerged as an actress of these times.

There’s a tendency with the audience, specifically men, to lose interest in an actress after she gets married. But I believe that such stupendous talent like Madhuri’s supercedes everything,” adds filmmaker Indrajit.

He feels the mindset is slowly changing and marriage is no longer an issue. “It doesn’t matter whether the heroine is married if the role and script are sound. As a director, I don’t take the marital status of actresses into account. Marriage is a non-issue and talent is the bottom line,” he adds.

Model Carun Carumbaiah agrees, saying the common perception that the male audience doesn’t accept married heroines is wrong. “It doesn’t make a difference to me whether the actress is married or not.

If she looks good and acts well, I’m happy. But age matters – I just can’t accept a Karisma or Kajol acting as college kids,” he says.

AAJA NACHLE banks on Madhuri and Jaideep power!

>> Thursday, October 25, 2007

After umpteen announcements and denials (about other projects), Madhuri's official comeback vehicle, AAJA NACHLE, is just about 35 -days away from release. Directed by well known cinematographer, Anil Mehta, the movie is being heavily promoted by Yash Raj.

Salim-Sulaiman's music, designed and composed as per Madhuri's image, has evoked extreme reactions. Some have loved it, others have ripped it. However, all that comes to naught because the audience has demonstrated, time and again that it has a mind of its own. Obviously, the success or otherwise of AAJA NACHLE will largely depend on the appeal of the last 'superstarni' of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit.

Another important factor that should also be taken into consideration is that it has been written by Jaideep Sahni, whose scripts have always managed to strike a chord with the audience. Just for records, Jaideep's recent project for Yash Raj, CHAK DE! INDIA, is this year's biggest hit and that augers well for the movie. Moreover, Jaideep says that the movie is about a 'new thing that comes to a small town'.

Sounds interesting, one has to admit!

Yash Raj Films invites you to "Aaja Nachle"

>> Saturday, October 20, 2007

Foot tapping music of Madhuri Dixit’s comeback vehicle released

“Aaja Nachle”, Yash Raj Films’ forthcoming venture has started attracting phenomenal amount of interest even though the release is still some time away. First of all it is the comeback vehicle of Madhuri Dixit after a hiatus of 7 years away from the silver screen. What’s more, it also marks her re-teaming with the creative minds at Yash Raj Films with a dance centric film. The last time this happened, exactly ten years ago, it resulted in the blockbuster hit “Dil To Pagal Hai”. And the music of “Aaja Nachle” provides ample evidence that the magic spark is still alive and kicking, courtesy music directors Salim-Sulaiman and lyricists Jaideep Sahni and Piyush Mishra!

The album kicks off with the title track “Aaja Nachle” sung in her inimitable style by Sunidhi Chauhan. Picturised on Madhuri Dixit the song is continuously up-tempo and will have you tapping your feet to the beat in no time. Don’t be surprised if you actually give in to the invitation “Aaja Nachle” and are soon on your feet dancing!

The next track “Ishq Hua” is a mellifluous romantic number sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. Befitting the mood, lovely harmonies and intricate yet uncluttered instrumentation allow their soothing voices to transport you to a place where the breeze is cool and passions run high.

Richa Sharma, Kailash Kher and Salim Merchant take up the baton for the next track “Show Me Your Jalwa”. Picturised on Madhuri’s character Dia, the song is her exhortation to the townspeople of Shamli to join her crusade of dance. Listening to it, you can actually visualize the energy and enthusiasm of a group of people whose heart is in the right place, even if their steps are not.

The Sufiana rendition of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan infuses the next track “O Re Piya” with a soulful yearning and nostalgia for a time gone by. The heavy notes of a bass guitar and drum line complements the singers voice while never overshadowing it. And the song reaches heights that perhaps only Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is capable of reaching!

“Soniye Mil Ja” starts off with Madhuri Dixit reciting a few lines of poetry announcing the advent of “jawaani” and Sukhwinder Singh takes off from there joined by Sunidhi Chauhan. A bit of a qawwali feel permeates through the song, especially the counterpoint-ish cries of “ah ha” by the chorus, but the song is one of those that are as much at home in a disco as they are in a bhangra performance.

Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal return for the next number, another slow romantic one entitled “Is Pal”. It provides a classic example of how much a song can be ostensibly in the western tradition, but can be enriched immeasurably by the addition of classical Indian instruments like the tabla and sitar.

“Koi Patthar Se Na Maare” is a narrative song featuring the voices of Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam. A song that owes its allegiance to the old Laila-Majnu classic song. This dramatic song would be perfectly at home in an opera, yet the emotions it expresses are intense, dramatic and quintessentially Indian. Plaintive and beseeching, this is yet another song of unusual moments in an album full of them.

Sonia Saigal sings “Dance With Me”, an English number picturised on Madhuri Dixit in her avatar as a dance instructor in New York. In intonation, delivery and arrangement, the song has all the makings of a foot tapping number. It won’t be a surprise if the song makes it to dance floors not just in India but across the world!

The album concludes with “Aaja Nachle” reprised by Sunidhi Chauhan. A much faster, but equally interesting, version of the title track, it showcases once again the incredible versatility that Sunidhi Chauhan has already come to be known for.

“Aaja Nachle”, then, is music not just your ears, but for your feet as well. So what are you waiting for? Get the music and get ready to tell your friends, “Aaja Nachle”!

The film, “Aaja Nachle” releases on 30th November. It is directed by ace cinematographer Anil Mehta and stars Madhuri Dixit, Konkona Sen, Kunal Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav, Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey, among others. It is produced by Aditya Chopra, who has also written the story, and the screenplay is by Jaideep Sahni.

The music of “Aaja Nachle” has been released simultaneously in Music Cassette, Audio CD and MP3 formats and will also be available in the DVD-Audio format later, with a special 24-minute music-cum-dialogue act.

The music of “Aaja Nachle” is also available for download in a digital format (as a single song or entire album) through the Yash Raj Films Website and also on popular sites like iTunes, Rhapsody, Yahoo and Amazon among others. YRF also delivers physical products to homes through orders placed online through its Website www.yashrajfilms.com.

Music Review - Aaja Nachle

>> Thursday, October 18, 2007

Music of Aaja Nachle serves to be special. And the reasons are more than one.

a) Aaja Nachle is THE comeback film of Madhuri Dixit. Of course, there is no question of a compromise when it comes to music here.
b) The film's title. When a movie itself screams 'come dance', it should have enough ammunition in it's soundtrack to make you dance indeed.
c) The Yash Raj factor. After Jhoom Barabar Jhoom they desperately need a hit soundtrack. The need of the situation is much more than a single super successful track (Chak De India) or a critically appreciated album (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag).

Do the composer duo Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist team of Piyush Mishra, Jaideep Sahni and Asif Ali Beg do well to get the desired results? The way it turns out eventually is that the album isn't quite 'special' (as one would have hoped) but does have a few tunes which should make you play them on for some time to come at least. In the nutshell, is it a superhit album in the wings for Yash Raj Films? Not quite as they may have to wait longer!

Title song ‘Aaja Nachle' is the kind of track that Madhuri Dixit fans would have been waiting to see her in! This Piyush Mishra song has all in it that gives Madhuri ample opportunity to get into a 'jhatak-matak' act which is bound to be lapped up by her fans worldwide. A stage performance, ‘Aaja Nachle’ has a controlled Sunidhi Chauhan singing with aplomb. She gets the right 'ada' in her rendition hence doing well to suit the kind of image that Madhuri has built over the years.

With strong Indian classical influence, Salim-Sulaiman get the Indian mood right for this song that has a rustic edge to it and reminds one of Madhuri's own 'Chane Ke Khet Mein' from Anjaam. A sure shot popular track in the kitty for Madhuri here. The only song to find a repeat version in the album, ‘Aaja Nachle’ is heard in a 'reprise' version at the end of the album which is thankfully different from oh-so-common fly-a-dozen remix versions!

After some 'naach-gaana', it is time to get into a romantic mood with 'Ishq Hua'. With a young feel to it, this Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal sung track is a mix of poetry and conventional Hindi movie lyrics by Jaideep Sahni (also the writer of the film), all of which makes for a good listening.

Salim-Sulaiman get the melody working for this soothing track which is quite easy on ears, courtesy some soft arrangements. 'Ishq Hua' has a Yash Raj stamp all over it and has a certain cute element to it which should make it popular amongst kids as well!

It is a delight to hear Richa Sharma sing 'Show Me Your Jalwa' which is an addictive song from the word GO. Inspite of a jingle feel to it which sets you thinking about such music being heard in countless ads, it is hard to ignore the sheer rhythm on which the song is based.

With Kailash Kher and Salim Merchant as Richa's male singing partners, 'Show Me Your Jalwa' by Jaideep Sahni is truly rustic in appeal and brings the feeling of a small town setting well in spite of the catch line of the song being in English. While Richa is just perfect in her rendition here, she also sets the right platform for Madhuri to actually 'show her jalwa'.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the man from whom one tends to expect a lot whenever his name appears in credits, croons 'O Re Piya'. Jaideep Sahni is at the helm of writing for third song in a row which is not really a kind of romantic number which one expects from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. A situational track with shades of a 'qawalli' setting, 'O Re Piya' takes some time to register itself in the mind of a listener.

Yet another number which is easy on ears, 'O Re Piya' would be enjoyed more with the narrative rather than being played out loud before one has witnessed the situation in the film where the song appears. A song that boasts of good quality but doesn't quite make for a popular track in the offering.

If there is one thing that strikes most about 'Soniye Mil Ja', it is the sound of 'ahas' and 'ohos' which gets the celebration mood rolling. Madhuri Dixit's singing is another good reason to give 'Soniye Mil Ja' a hearing since she adds certain spunk to the proceedings with Sunidhi Chauhan pitching in with a bit as well.

A track about arrival of youth which in turn is a matter of celebration, 'Soniye Mil Ja' is yet another rooted number which finds its base in the interiors of the country and would be appreciated more after one has seen it with the movie. Also, Piyush Mishra's lyrics are different from 'pyaar-mohabbat' routine and instead talk about situations in simple words sans any complications with incidents from everyday life.

After 'Ishq Hua', 'Is Pal' is the second hardcore romantic track to arrive in the album. Yet again, the singing 'jodi' is the same with Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal though the lyricist changes from Jaideep Sahni to Piyush Mishra. In fact, the overall mood created by 'Is Pal' is similar to that of 'Ishq Hua' and if you a die hard romantic, it may not be a bad idea to put both the songs together in a repeat mood and play them for hours at stretch. No, 'Is Pal' may not be the next chartbuster track in the offering but those who swear by melodious music and love to be entertained with soothing numbers, this is just the right one!

An out and out situational track which is perhaps made for a situation for a stage performance in Aaja Nachle comes in the form of 'Koi Patthar Se Na Maare'. Musically, this one written by Piyush Mishra is the weakest of the lot musically as it hardly comes with a retention value. A slow moving pensive number with Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam at the helm, 'Koi Patthar Se Na Maare' gets poetic but tests the patience of a listener who till this point was enjoying a mix of melody and rhythm in the offering. Skip this one.

New find Sonia Saigal croons the English track 'Dance With Me' penned by Asif Ali Beg who in the past has written for films like Neal N Nikki, Dhoom 2 and Victoria No. 203 amongst others. Surprisingly, the dance number here isn't quite the kind which makes you go 'wow' and play the track in a repeat mode. The song sounds like an 80s disco track and even the arrangements are hardly the kind which suit the grandeur of a Yash Raj setting. Very average with all hopes centered on the eventual picturisation of the song!

In the end, one still feels that there could have been more to the film's soundtrack to make it outstanding, something which is not really the case. One misses the presence of something exceptional the music of Aaja Nachle; not quite an unreasonable demand to begin with! Of course 'Koi Patthar Se Na Maare' and 'Dance With Me' don't really make you go for that 'repeat' option but then there are definite hits like Aaja Nachle and 'Show Me Your Jalwa waiting to explode with good melodies like 'Ishq Hua' and 'Is Pal' sure to catch the fancy of those who are in love.

Akshaye Khanna kept out of AAJA NACHLE promos

If you have checked the promos of AAJA NACHLE, you would have realized that it's about only woman - Madhuri Dixit.

Now that's pretty much justified considering the fact that this is Madhuri's much hyped comeback film and deserves all the focus on herself. Still, if one checks out the theatrical promo carefully, there are other actors like Kunal Kapoor and Konkana Sen who get a reasonable footage in the three minute promo. In fact even Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak get a dialogue each to mouth in the attractive promo that has made quite a splash ever since it was aired first.

But where does it lead one of the most known faces in AAJA NACHLE after Madhuri Dixit? We are talking about Akshaye Khanna who doesn't feature in the promo for even a flicker of a second.

Knowing Yash Raj?s penchant for creating a well planned promotion strategy for their films, we are sure there would be valid reasons for Akshaye not being talked about at all as of now. Now is that a surprise element in the offering for AAJA NACHLE?

Broadway style musical nautanki for Aaja Nachle

>> Tuesday, October 16, 2007

“Chak De has become an anthem. It’s a great feeling to be a part of a film that has become so big,” says Sulaiman Merchant of music composer duo Salim-Sulaiman who has composed music of films like Chak De India, Iqbal, Dor and Kaal. They also happen to be the first choice for designing the background score of some of the biggest films in tinsel town. Obviously they are excited about making Madhuri Dixit dance to their tunes in Yash Raj’s next Aaja Nachle. But there’s something unique they’ve attempted in Aaja Nachle that has never been done in Bollywood before.

“In Aaja Nachle we have composed a 25 minute play written in nautanki style, something that small town people can associate with. It has been produced in new world, western theatrical style, the kind of stuff you get to see in Broadway or theatres in West. It’s produced and done in the same style. The sadness, the pain, the fights, everything has been told in a musical format. There were 9-10 singers and 7-8 actors who’ve dubbed their own voices,” Sulaiman said excitedly. This 25 minute play has been written by veteran theatre personality and actor Piyush Mishra (If you’ve seen the latest Greenply ad on telly, then he is the lawyer who’s asking for ‘suboot’).

Elaborating on the music score of Aaja Nachle, Sulaiman says that it’s not the typical “Madhuri numbers. It is one step beyond what Madhuri has done. It has a classical base with contemporary style. There are a variety of songs. There’s an English song, a slow song. There are a wide array of singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Sunidhi. The music releases on 18th October.”

Salim-Sulaiman have also been associated with Merchants of Bollywood, a musical choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant that is all set to start its third season in various European countries. Incidentally, Vaibhavi has accused Morani Brothers of ‘stealing’ their idea for the much hyped Miss Bollywood starring Shilpa Shetty. “It’s a massive production. If we would have tried to play the music live then we would have required a 100 piece orchestra,” Sulaiman says.

The talented duo feels strongly about the penchant for plagiarism that is common in the music industry in India. “Our population is one billion, can’t we come up with something original. That’s so sad.” Sulaiman feels the duo would like to do quality films like Dor, Iqbal, Chak De India and Aaja Nachle rather than taking up too many projects. Their next few films include Roadside Romeo (Jugal Hansraj’s film, a joint production with Disney) and Cootchie Coothcie Hota Hai (Karan Johar’s animation film).

Promotion of Madhuri's AAJA NACHLE has begun

>> Monday, October 15, 2007

Madhuri Dixit has done it.

Making a much awaited comeback, she has managed to get all the attention that she rightly deserves. Promotion of her AAJA NACHLE has begun with a big bang in the weekend gone by and if initial reactions are anything to go by, YASH RAJ FILMS have a deifnite winner in hand.

A three minute theatrical promo has met with a fantastic response in multiplexes across the country where whistles, claps and an overall euphoric mood was observed when Madhuri was seen dominating the frames. She has succeeded in giving the right vibes which indicate that she had never been away.

The film's theme too deals with a triumphant spirit of an underdog taking over the mighty and winning against all odds.

Written by Jaideep Sahni, AAJA NACHLE is an Anil Mehta film which is releasing all over on 30th November.

AAJA NACHLE music coming soon!

Three more days to go and the music of AAJA NACHLE would hit the stands.

18th October has been finalized as the date on which music of this much awaited Madhuri Dixit's comeback film would be unveiled. Two songs from the film are already out in the promotion.

While title song 'Aaja Nachle' by Sunidhi Chauhan is already blazing on all music channels, 'Show Me Your Jalwa' crooned by Richa Sharma, Kailash Kher & Salim Merchant is the song which accompanies the theatrical promo.

With music by Salim - Sulaiman and lyrics by Jaideep Sahni & Piyush Mishra, the soundtrack of AAJA NACHLE is expected to wipe off the disappointment of Yash Raj Films' LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG, the music of which failed to ignite the charts inspite of some decent numbers.

Madhuri Dixit is back with Yash Raj's AAJA NACHLE

>> Saturday, October 13, 2007

When a film's first publicity material reads - MADHURI DIXIT IS BACK - you know where does it's strength lies and what's the kind of confidence that the makers have in their product.

We are talking about AAJA NACHLE which is up for release on 30th November. While the first look of the film was revealed first during the screening of CHAK DE INDIA, the promotion is now seeing a satellite kick start on a rocking note with the teasers dominating all the music channels.

The teasers are to the point and straight-n-simple as they highlight Madhuri Dixit being back in the thick of things. Her costume is just right for the occasion (i.e. a comeback) while whatever is revealed of the music and dance movements makes you ask for more. Moreover, a quick glimpse of her smile is enough to make one look forward to this Anil Mehta film which for the moment is the sole release on 30th November.

Yes, that's the magic of Madhur Dixit. Bas Naam Hi Kaafi Hai!

"Sharing acting space with Madhuri didn't make me that nervous." Konkona Sen Sharma

Konkona Sen-Sharma and stage fright don't go together. But when Konkona heard she had to dance with the nimble-footed Madhuri Dixit in Aaja Nachle, she nearly ran away."It was scary," laughs Konkona. " Sharing acting space with Madhuri didn't make me that nervous. I knew I could manage to hold my own in that department.

But one has to be totally crazy to even attempt to match dance steps with Madhuri. I thought I'd faint when I had to dance with her.Fortunantely our choreograpaher Vaibhavi Merchant gave me steps that didn't make me look foolish in front of Madhuri. In fact the film requires unequal dancing between Madhuri and the rest of us in the cast. Jaan bachi!"Konkona is currently basking in the good reviews for Metro. "I just loved meeting Anurag Basu for the narration. He kept getting all the characters' names confused.

It was hilarious But I liked his honesty, passion…and maturity."On the first day of shooting Konkona's mother Aparna Sen in Kolkata lost her hair dresser. "She was with my mother for 33 years and she was supposed to join me for Metro in Mumbai when I got a call from my mother saying she was gone. She was like a family member. Her going away meant an immense loss. I was distraught. Anurag immediately cancelled my first day's shooting and made me fly off to Kolkata."She cheers up when she talks of the reaction to Metro. "People are so pleased with my chemistry with Irrfan. But anybody can have good chemistry with Irrfan. He's tooooo good! We're crazy about each others' acting.

Though we've done five films together this is the first time we were actually on - screen together. He also has a guest appearance in Aaja Nachle."Irffan had to so very strange things with Konkona on screen, like stare at her figure. "I know. He did such slimy things. And pulled it off so confidently."At the moment Konkona is like a child in a candy store, picking up the most yummy roles in Bollywood. 'It's not like I am getting only plum roles. A lot of what comes my way doesn't inspire me.But yes, Aaja Nachle is very special…Madhuri Dixit is amazing! We're having such a ball. We hang around together even when we aren't shooting. Madhuri is such a big star. But she's so chilled. So fun-loving and totally unaffected."

The most successful pairs of the Nineties, is back

Though his first independent production, under the banner, Anil Kapoor Films Company, the 20-crore GANDHI MY FATHER, could not do much at the Box Office, life moves on for one of the greatest survivors of our times, Anil Kapoor.

Anil now plans to bring back on screen one of the most successful pairs of the Nineties, the 'dhak-dhak' girl, Madhuri Dixit and himself. Anil recently expressed his tentative plans (bordering more on desire!) to produce a film, featuring himself and Madhuri Dixit, perhaps next year.

For those who do not know, the pair gave some of the biggest hits of their careers together like TEZAAB, RAM LAKHAN and BETA, to mention a few. They were last seen in Rajkumar Santoshi's PUKAR, the film that fetched Anil Kapoor, the National Award for best actor.
